The Light Between Oceans is a romance-drama set in western Australia. The film released in the US earlier this month and received above average reviews. The Light Between Oceans is releasing on 15th September in India and the audience can look forward to soppy, emotional dram at the cinema halls.

The Light Between Oceans Story
Tom and his wife Isabel live in western Australia where he works a lightkeeper in a Lighthouse, in 1921. After repeated attempts, Isabel fails to have kids and this brings great sorrow to the couple. One day, Tom sees a rowboat with small baby near the lighthouse. The couple desire for a child overrules common sense and they keep the baby girl for themselves. But Tom cannot shake of the guilt as he soon finds out the real mother of the child.
His co-worker realizes what is happening and decides to report the crime. Lucy, the small girl, is returned to her biological mother and Tom is charged with murdering the man. The movie ends with Tom meeting Lucy again years later.
The Light Between Oceans Review
Anthony Lane at The New Yorker says that the movie makes various claims and pick different potential angles but fails to fulfill them when it comes to the story or screenplay. One dimensional acting by Fassbender makes it impossible to connect with the characters and feel the emotional punch of the movie, according to Lane.
At ScreenRant, Sandy Schaefer echoes Lane’s views about the director’s work as he fails tries to open too many avenues without doing justice to any of them. However, he thinks both the lead actors justify their Oscar nominee tag and bring some value to the movie.
In spite of the flaws, the movie in general has received mixed reviews. The audience have rated The Light Between Oceans above average on multiple platforms. The consensus seems to be that the movie is a good choice if a bit of Romance and a lot of TV Soaps style drama is your thing. I think The Light Between Oceans should be a great fit for die-hard fans of Hallmark channel.
