Rocky Mountain Christmas Movie Plot
New York interior designer Sarah (Lindy Booth), while pleased with her latest project, the lobby Christmas décor for the hotel she works for, is sad about her recent breakup and decides to lay low for the holidays at her family’s ranch in Colorado.
Being back on the ranch is home to her and she feels good there, where she and her brother Cody (Chris McNally) were raised by their Uncle Roy (Treat Williams) and beloved Aunt Beth, who passed away earlier that year.
Sarah reconnects with her best friend, who convinces Sarah to take on supervision of the town’s annual Christmas parade, something Aunt Beth had always done.
Between getting the once-cancelled-but-now-back-in-production parade back in operation again and trying to convince Uncle Roy into celebrating the holidays and decorating the ranch like they used to when Aunt Beth was alive, she has got plenty to take her mind off her cheating ex.
Enter handsome and charming movie star Graham (Kristoffer Polaha), who arrives at the McKinney’s dude ranch hoping to spend the holidays learning how to rope and ride for a part he’ll play in his next picture.
Reluctant to take on a guest during the holidays when the dude ranch is officially closed to visitors, Sarah gives in and agrees on the condition that in exchange for teaching him about ranch life, Mitch will help her with the parade. He agrees.
Sarah relishes imposing some of the tougher aspects of ranch life on the GQ-handsome movie idol, like relegating him to the sparse bunk house rather than one of the more luxurious guest cabins.
Their days are spent feeding and tending the animals, with Sarah teaching Graham how to mount and ride. He’s a great sport about everything she throws at him and despite his own hidden dislike of the Christmas holiday, he helps Sarah to put on a parade to remember.
Graham’s beautiful co-star shows up at the ranch hoping to cozy up to him, but Graham is not interested; he’s recognized in Sarah something he’s never felt before, and Sarah starts to feel it too. However, certain that no good can come of an attraction with a globe-trotting movie star, Sarah sends Graham on his way when she learns he’s been called back to Hollywood the day before the parade.
However, after Uncle Roy shares with Graham his own love story with Beth, and how he almost let her go all those years ago, Mitchell gets his priorities straight and ultimately shows up as Grand Marshall of the parade on a horse Sarah taught him to ride, and the movie star gets the girl after all.
