Wars often end up being about one’s victory over other’s. But in this simplistic comparison between the aggressor and defenders, it is the human loss and pain that is often relegated to the far end of the conflict stories. In a time where frivolous News and reporting has become commonplace, the work ethic of a serious journalist is getting trivialized by many. A Private War Movie Plot
A Private War movie is part memoir part war movie through the eyes of Marie Colvin. The movie alternates between Marie’s travels to the war zones across the world in search of truth and her times in London.
We begin the journey as Mari travels to Sri Lanka in the middle of the most violent times in the island nation as the Sinhalese troops mercilessly advance against the Tamil population in the East – a stronghold of Tamil Tigers, in hope of ending the militancy. But despite injuring herself and losing an eye, Marie returns to the field in Iraq to find the much talked about Kuwaiti mass grave Saddam’s previous wars.
Suffering from PTSD and battling panic attacks, the journalist once again returns to Afghanistan to document Taliban attacks on Afghan civilians and to the aid convoys that go out to assist the civilians. As she contemplates a normal life with her new man Shaw, she is once again drawn to Libya and interviews Gaddaffi, as Arab Spring roars on. As she travels to the besieged city of Homs where 28000 civilians are trapped in Syria, the assignment becomes the most dangerous in her life.
