Parmanu movie begins with building the context and the need to go for the risky test that everyone knew would be stopped and invite economic and military sanctions from the developed nations. We get to hear about how the big five have thousands of weapons among them, and more importantly how China is secretly supplying the technology to Pakistan.
With the decision to go nuclear in place, the movie then focuses on the logistics of the test. With ISI spies on the ground and CIA eyes in the sky, conducting the test without leaking the information seems nearly impossible. The mix of facts and fiction take us to the professional and personal challenges of the people who are involved in the mission and vow to give it their everything.

If only Bollywood can come to accept that songs are not the essential ingredient of a thriller, the movies could actually make you as proud as the real achievement of the heroes. John Abhraham’s performance looks wooden and fails to build the tempo. So for those who have forgotten the day or those who didn’t exist then, Parmaanu is a somewhat entertaining medium to delve into history. However, do not expect a gripping, heart racing thriller on your screens.
