Ittefaq Movie Story

Ittefaq movie revolves around its two main characters – Vikram Sethi and Maya Sinha – along with investigation officer Inspector Dev. The story is about solving two murders. Two musrders have Vikram as the main suspect and one of them includes Maya as the suspect or co-conspirator.

However, during investigation, both the suspects give two different accounts of the events that transpired on the night of the murders. While Maya tells the police that she was strong armed and threatened by Vikram on the night he invaded her home, Vikram confesses that they were together and everything that happened was with her consent.

However as the police investigate their statements, independent accounts form others contradict the statements given by the accused. Police also find out that the each of the main suspects have a motive to commit these murders.

The question is were these two together at the same time just by Ittefaq (coincidence) or is there a deep rooted conspiracy toward a common goal.

Ittefaq Movie Review

The movie shot in dim lights and dark tones establishes a nice mood early on. Performances by Sonakshi Sinha and Siddharth Malhotra appear to be satisfactory. However, Akshay Khanna suffers from poor dialogue writing and the attempted humor does not really make you laugh or add to the character’s quirks.

The concept and the mystery plot are tight and keep you guessing till the end as the movie peels each layer slowly. However, it is the pace of the movie that kills all the interest in the on screen proceedings. In spite of short running time and no songs, the movie fails to give you edge-of-the-seat entertainment. Cliched characters and poor portraits with insistence of having witless humor kill the engaging mystery-thriller that it could have been.

The movie also fails to create a big impact of its big reveal with botched up sequence of events and adding a bit too neat confession in the end.

One of the best thrillers. Siddharth has done a really great job and Akshay Khanna was superb as always. Sonakshi did justice to her role too. Must watch a movie.
