Bollywood churns out hundreds of movies each year, but Mystery Movie is not a genre of choice and we hardly ever get to watch a good one in a year. Badla movie brings a thrilling new murder mystery set in the UK and follows an experienced lawyer who is bent on saving his client from a seemingly indisputable murder charge.

The new thriller is based on the story by Oriol Paulo and is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The movie once again unites Amitabh Bachchan and Tapsee Pannu as seen in Pink earlier, when it releases 8th March 2019.

Badla Movie Story
Badla movie plot revolves around Naina and her lawyer Badal Gupta. We first meet Naina as she wakes up in a hotel room with a dead man covered in a lot of cash. Soon the police raid the building and Naina is arrested for the murder she insists she did not commit.
Her lawyer Badal Gupta, an experienced and celebrity in his own right. He is only interested in the truth Naina tells her and begins to question her. As the movie progresses, we find Naina give her version of the events. But her answers don’t ass up and there is no evidence of anyone coming in or going out of the room of murder on the said night.
Is Naina telling the truth? or is she hiding just the right things to appear innocent? If she is telling the truth then how was the murder committed in a locked room?

Badla Movie Review
The murder mystery goes through various twists and turns as the protagonist and her lawyer throw up various potential versions of truth. But it is not a typical murder mystery. The movie begins on an interesting note but what-if scenarios playing out on the screen soon fail to hold your attention.
Tapsee Pannu fails to play the vulnerable victim and at no time do you root for her character. For a thriller, the movie has no thrilling moments. Although the performances do not leave anything wanting, the movie fails to deliver aha moments and lacks a punch.
Overall, the movie disappoints as a murder mystery but may work if you think of it as a drama.
