24 Season 2 on Colors: Review

24 season 2 on Colors

I am not a fan of Indian remakes of Hollywood movies or serials. More often than not, they are technically much inferior and have lots of holes in the story. 24 Season One was an exception. Anil Kapoor was awesome and for Indian audiences as influential as Keifer Sutherland as Jack Bauer was in the US. Both Director Rensil D’Silva and Cinematographer Jay Oza did an excellent job in making the thriller. And I am equally excited for 24 Season 2.

24 Season 2 will be aired on Colors TV and Colors TV HD every Saturday and Sunday at 9.00 PM.

Directed by: Rensil D’Silva & Karan Boolani
Cinematography: Jitan Harmeet Singh, Anil Devaiah

Cast: Anil Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sakshi Tanwar, Sikander Kher

24 Season 2 although promising, doesn’t look in the same league as Season One. From what we know, the main mission in Season 2 appears to be saving Mumbai from an imminent Bio Weapon attack. What’s worse, is that humans , in all probability, will be the carriers of this deadly virus attack.

One hour into the Season and you can already spot some problems in the plot execution. We see a bunch of doctors explaining how deadly the virus is and how it can spread rapidly across borders. Emphasizing that it is not only Indian lives but the entire humanity is at stake here. Reminds of The Last Ship, doesn’t it?

Well, if it is what you claim it is and the body you have lying in the morgue was the carrier, how is it that it is not already spreading around?  Maybe the someone injected him and killed him immediately – because the virus dies with the carrier. But the serial and the script writer also get the vocabulary wrong. We have the doctor proclaiming that this is a Genocide! My dear writer, death by plague or virus is not Genocide. Genocide is when a maniac picks people from one ethnic community or group and kills only them, where everyone else lives.

But all is not lost, yet. Presence of Ashish Vidyarthi should add to the charm of Anil Kapoor who still makes this one of the best thrillers on Indian TV. Sikander Kher seems like a natural and I am sure audiences are already hating Harun Sherchand’s guts. I am still hopeful that 24 Season 2 will get over these initial errors  and give us some exciting weekends.

  1. Kay

Is it Roshan Srichand & Arun Srichand or is it Roshan Sherchand & Haroon Sherchand?
producers dont want to use muslims prominently what?
Good move to have villain names that are confusing and make all the other characters have them enunciate differently every time so its not biased against any one community. unlike how bollywood makes hit movies by muslim bashing…and hollywood way of Brown man bad, white man good, black man strong…..great show….the 24

Always thot it was Sherchand. But it appears that it is Sherchan. No idea abt the ethinicity.

  3. I am a big fan of Anil Kapoor… he chooses his roles brilliantly.. I totally loved 24 Season 2 and like all his other hit films I am also planning to buy its original DVDs online..
