Now You See Me 2: Critics Reviews

Movie Review: Now You See Me 2

It is hard not to look forward to Now You See Me 2 for anyone who enjoyed the roller coaster ride in the first part. After all, the movie combined the two most interesting entertainment facets: the mystery of magic and the thrill of a heist.

Now the magicians are back in Now You See Me 2. And so is all the excitement. This time the Horsemen  have come together to expose the unethical practices of a tech magnate. But if the first part was full of surprises and near-impossible tricks, Jame Berardinelli at ReelViews thinks they are completely outlandish this time. He also pokes holes into actor’s performances and does not see the movie making it big at the box office.

Max Nicholson at IGN takes a different view. Although Now You See Me 2 depends more on technology than sleight of hand magic, the reviewer believes audiences can still find the movie engaging. Nicholson’s beef with the movie is that the characters are not well developed and that hurts getting the audience sucked into the movie. He thinks the too many distractions and sub-plots ruin the movie and the viewers miss to identify what they are really fighting for. However, if you were enamored by the high spectacle of the first movie, you won’t mind watching this one.

The audiences seem equally split in their opinions. While some see it as fun and entertaining – if you agree to not give it too much thought, others see its plot as poor as its visuals are good. The consensus seems to be that Now You See Me 2 has too much happening – to the point where it is disorienting – but is a good choice if high paced chases and action sequences are good enough for you to certify a movie as good.
