The Polka King movie on Netflix is a biographical of Jan Lewan a Polish citizen and actor who wormed his way to America in the 70s, and years later was arrested for running a ponzi scheme.

The Polka King Movie Story
No matter what path you choose – just or shady – you cannot escape hard work, there’s just not shortcut to money or success. The Polka King movie follows Jan Lewandowski from the point when he skipped his tour party and settled in Niagra Fall to live his American Dream. From singing at churches to joining a Polka Orchestra, starting his own, launching a travel company and trading antiques, the man did everything to make his dream come true.
But going big needs big money and that is what took down the rising star of Jan Lewan. Needing more money for his antiques trading, Jan issued promissory notes with 12 percent interest on capital to people around him who believed in him and his success.
However, trust began to wane when his wife was accused with tampering a contest vote. Misfortune accompanied him on a tour to Florida and he lost his musicians and business began to dwindle further. Returning the 12 percent interest on capital was no longer profitable or feasible and the long hand of the law got to the Polka King.
