Amitabh Bachchan is back with TE3N. He again plays the role of a grandfather, but this time it is diametrically opposite from the one he played in Piku. John Biswas is a man on a mission. A mission to get justice for his granddaughter, Angela, who is missing for 8 years now.
He is supported with a strong cast of Nawazuddin Siddiqui who plays the role of a Father, and an ex-cop, who finds solace in church. Vidya Balan plays the role of the investigating officer.
Te3N Movie Trailer
The world has forgotten Angela, but John cannot give up hope of catching the perpetrator. He follows the case with every possible law and order official and is ignored every day. But this has not made him quit. And then it happens. It happens again. Another child is kidnapped, the same way Angela was 8 years ago.
Te3N Movie Review
The movie revolves around two characters influenced by one event, John Biswas who has made looking for the kidnapper his life’s mission and Father Martin, who has given up his vocation and turned to God for justice.
Te3n (2016)
Director: Ribhu Dasgupta
Stars: Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vidya Balan
Amitabh Bachchan once more lives the character of John Biswas flawlessly. As a dejected grandfather who lost a granddaughter on his watch, you can feel the pain of this character. The movie progresses at a slow pace as John looks to peruse each and every new lead that he can uncover. His passion for truth is contagious and you get sucked into his quest.
However, I would say that the movie leans more toward the Drama genre than Thriller. There are no edge-of-the-seat sequences or moments where you will hold your breath waiting for the moment of truth. There are multiple mistakes in the investigation that show lack of attention to detail. Use of a still photo as proof of life is one of the most basic and obvious mistakes to spot. The characters jump too soon to connect the old crime and new one – before any proof or similarities in the two crimes is established.
The performances of actors is the only thing that keeps you interested in an otherwise average movie. Watch the movie if you are in the mood for a Drama. Although the mystery itself is interesting, the pace and focus of the movie doesn’t deliver a thriller.
