Set in the prohibition era in the US, Live By Night is a crime drama. The movie is based on the book of the same name written by Dennis Lehane. Ben Affleck plays the protagonist who gets involved in organized crime though his father is one of the most respected Police captains in the Boston area. Live by Night will release on January 13th 2017 along with other countries. The movie had a limited release in December 2016 in New York City.

Live by Night Story
Live by Night story revolves around Joe Coughlin, a son of Boston Police Captain. Their youngest, Joe gets mixed up in organized crime and ends up in jail. There he meets his mentor and moves to Florida to start as a bootlegger. He builds a criminal empire in Florida, but also makes powerful enemies, like the Klu Klux Klan.
later, Joe falls in love with a Cuban immigrant and moves with her to Cuba, from where he runs his business in the US. But there are enemies who are waiting for his return. He returns, but only to lose his wife and love, again.

Live by Night reviews have been a mixed bag. Many critics think that Ben Affleck was not pushed enough to make a mark. The movie however builds the world of 30s quite well and it is treat to watch the movie. Peter Travers at the Rolling Stone believes that Affleck has successfully create a Crime genre movie that will keep you on the edge as a black cloud hangs over the entire time.
If you love period drama and classic crime movies, this one is surely worth a watch as you are transported to another time and a completely different world in the movie theater hall.
