Dongri Ka Raja movie brings back the Mumbai underworld back into focus after a break of couple of years. We haven’t seen an underworld movie from Bollywood for some time now. Gashmeer Mahajani will be seen in the lead role in his first Hindi movie, after a successful run with Kanha Marathi movie earlier this year. Dongri Ka Raja is set in Mumbai and is a Romance-Drama in the backdrop underworld, much like Satya and Company. The gangster movie has a tough fight this week and will have to fight with Farhan Akhtar’s Rock On 2 and another thriller in 30 Minutes.

Dongri Ka Raja Story

As the trailer tells you, Dongri has long been a hub of underworld activities in Mumbai. Close to the sea and docks, it has always been a place of interest for smugglers, and later Mumbai underworld bosses. Raja (Gashmeer Mahajani) is the son of Dongri’s feared don Mansoor Ali (Ronit Roy). The impersonated police officer (Ashmit Patel) is on the hunt for Raja who is using his name and killing his enemies at will. But he has a weakness – a simple Mumbai girl.

The love affair spirals into something big and the opposing faction in the crime world take this opportunity as a bargaining chip for the control of much coveted Dongri. In this scenario, the relationship between the father and son deteriorates further as they face-off with each other to get their way.

Watch Dongri ka Raja releasing on 11th November to see if Raja can get his wish fulfilled or will he succumb to the forces acting against him.

Dongri Ka Raja Movie Review

The movie story is pretty run-of-the-mill, but performances by Ronit Roy and Gashmeer Mahajani seem pretty good. The movie heavily banks on typical gangster movie tropes, however, it does this too often. The pace of the movie is decent enough and has some twists that will surprise you a couple of times.

Everything that happens in the movie is so that our two love birds may meet. However, the romance part lacks enough punch to make you feel for the characters.

You might want to watch this one if you are a Ronit Roy or Gashmeer Mahajani fan,  and choose action any day over a Drama genre movie. But if you like good music, Rock On 2 give you more Drama with good performances with an incentive of good Rock music.
