While watching the movie mini trails and the trailer, we couldn’t help but spot the similarities between Jab Harry Met Sejal and DDLJ. Similarities not only in the story, but also in how the characters look. References to the iconic movie are sure to make viewers nostalgic for DDLJ. Here are the seven similarities in the movies that we think make Jab Harry Met Sejal a new age DDLJ.
Travel across Europe
DDLJ began with a tour of Europe as the last breath of freedom for Simran, who must come back and marry the boy her family has chosen for her. Here too, our Sejal embarks on her last tour of Europe to find the lost engagement ring – her last free breath before getting married to her fiancé.
A Girl in Distress
After a few brush-ins with the Hero, Simran misses her train and takes on the role of damsel in distress. Sejal gets in her shoes and in need of someone’s help to find the precious ring. She even asks Harry for help, as against Simran in DDLJ.
An Unreliable Man
Raj was portrayed as unreliable and carefree from the start. Although we do not get to see that side of Harry early on, Harry walks the same path and takes on the role of a man without a care in world.
They Gradually Fall in Love
As Simran and Raj find out through their drunken revelry and forced circumstances, Sejal and Harry too begin to sense an unspoken bond being formed through their travel through Europe, as they begin to fall in love.
A promise to Keep
Although in love now, Simran cannot marry Raj as she is already spoken for. And so is Sejal. Our girl must go back and marry her fiancé. After all she is not the type of girl who leaves her fiancé for a tour guide!
Do the Right Thing
Like Raj, Harry decides to help Sejal go back and even advises her to go back to her fiancé as that is the right thing to do.

We promised there is more than the story that is similar here. We have SRK once again in a biker’s leather jacket. But it s not just SRK, Anushka’s Sejal in a little red dress too attempts to remind you of Simran from the Swiss Alps.
Palat
SRK with a girl, on a tour of Europe, in love, you just can’t resist putting in a reference to ‘Palat’, and Imtiaz Ali does not rob his viewers the familiar feel with Harry and Sejal in a train.
