Disney movies had a blockbuster 2106 with almost five of its releases making it to the top 5. The combined worldwide sales of Disney movies crossed the magic $7 Billion figure and cruised past the previous record help by Universal of $6.9 Billion. Animation, Action, and Adventure contributed to this number and made it to the best Disney films list this year. Captain America: Civil War
There is a split among avengers as the two faction spar over government control on their missions and overreach. The infighting themed superhero movie released in Summer raked in $ 1, 153m and topped the Disney chart.

Finding Dory
A forgetful Dory suddenly realizes that she may have a family looking for her somewhere out there, she sets out along with her friends to reunite with them. The late Summer release earned a close $1, 028 m and was applauded by viewers as well as the critics.
Zootopia
Although as popular as the first two in the list, Zootopia ended up earning a bit less. This could be ascribed to its early release in February. Zootopia brought in $1, 024 – almost the same as Finding Dory – though it did not have the summer advantage on its side.
The Jungle Book
Despite its worldwide popularity, the classic could not match the earnings of the top three movies during its April release and ended up with $967 m. The movie, however, had similar approval ratings as the top three.
Doctor Strange
Disney brought to life a new Marvel character with Doctor Strange. An arrogant neurosurgeon who goes on a global hunt to find a solution to fix his hands damaged in an accident. With fantastic cinematography and and visual effects, the movie raked in $653 m after its October release.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
The new Star Wars franchise still manages to be one of the most popular ones in the movie industry. In spite of the mid December release the movie has made it to this list and earned a whoping $323 m in ten odd days, and looks poised to rise further up the chart for Disney Studios.
Alice Through the Looking Glass
Although the movie got a summer release, it could not impress the audiences much. The movie had an average ratings from viewers and performed quite badly in the eyes of the critics. Moana
Moana on the other hand was appreciated by the audiences. The animated sea adventure got high ratings fro the viewers as well as the critics, who appreciated the research that the movie makers put in. Although released late in the year, the movie earned a cool $284 m and had no problems to make it to the Top 10 Disney Movies of 2016 list.
The BFG
The BFG was a disappointment though. There was a lot of buzz around the movie before its release, but it failed to engage the audiences. with average audience and critics ratings, the movie failed to maintain the momentum and managed to earn $178 m.
Pete’s Dragon
Pete’s Dragin was another movie that did not bring in a lot for Disney Studios despite its overall good ratings the. The move ratings indicate that the audiences and critics both liked the movie. However, this for some reason did not translate into money at the box office. The movie $142 m to hang on to the last spot on the list.
