Gunner Boone, a young boy, is devastated by watching his mother fighting for her life. The family moves to a small rural town thinking that the fresh air and slow pace will help her recuperate. But her health deteriorates further and no medicine seems to make her better.
Here he meets a girl named Jo and stumbles on the legend of The Water Man who can cheat death. Determined to save his mother, her enlists Jo’s help and decides to go deep into the woods. As the two progress deep into the dark woods, mysterious events and occurrences make the journey difficult.
Trapped in the woods with nowhere to go, there only hope for rescue is Gunner’s father who will not let them go at any cost. As angry he is, this search for his son will bring the two closer as he will learn who his son really is.
