Review: Sea Swept by Nora Roberts

Sea Swept is the first book in the Quinn brothers saga by Nora Roberts. Set against the Chesapeake Bay, this story reinforces that family is not just built by DNA. Love is what brings people together, and keeps them together, even after a person has passed.

Cameron, Ethan and Philip were adopted by Ray and Stella Quinn. They have grown up to be successful in their own right, and each has his life. This is the story of Cam who loves racing boats. Father Ray is on his deathbed and has recently adopted another 10 year old who might be his biological son. Seth comes from a troubled past and needs careful attention. The brothers pitch in and decide to take care of Seth. Anna Spinelli is a social worker who is not too impressed with the efforts of the Quinn brothers. She is not sure they can offer the right environment for a young child.

Cam comes back to live in their father’s house on the Cheasapeake Bay. He finds himself falling for Anna. As he struggles to do the right thing for his younger brother, he gets assistance from unexpected quarters.

Each of the Quinn brothers has strong and eccentric personalities and I loved reading about them. Nora Roberts has a gripping style and manages to weave in surprising elements into regular life. I have read the whole series in a skewed order. By the time you read two of these books, the Quinn brothers feel like old friends and you want to live in their small seaside town. Sea Swept is a must read for all Nora Roberts fans!
