Although set in current times Qarib Qarib Singlle resonates with the life as we see in reallity and not in reel life. Irrfan Khan once again brings to life an average middle-aged character in a movie that will remind many of the genre of Amol Palekar movies or Hrishikesh Mukhrjee movies that presented a slice of life.

With their lives a string of failed relationships and without any family responsibilities, these two adults meet on a dating site and get on their journey of self exploration and giving another try to form a meaningful relationship.
One thing leads to another and the two decide to travel together. Looking back at their lives and their past relationships, the two begin to bond over time and their eventful journey.

Qarib Qarib Singlle movie promises to be a fresh family movie with a touch of some realistic romance. You don’t have larger than life problems, elaborate song and dance sequences, or extravagant lifestyles in this story. Fans Dum Laga ke Haisha and the 70s Hrishikesh Mukhrjee movies will connect with this mature romantic drama that will tug at your heart.
While Irrfan Khan’s performance looks similar to what he did in Hindi Medium, the actor’s dialogue delivery and screen presence has the charm that makes him a good choice for the movie. Parvathy’s performance is also good and that is what carries the movie. However, the movie is full of cliches and loves to paint a picture of a girl who is desperate for companionship, but there is no such urgency in the male character, which remains unexplored.
The first half keeps you engaged as the two awkwardly try to find common ground. But the movie fails to keep the interest going in the second half and aimlessly wanders to a very lackluster end.
