Motherhood is an unique experience and one of the most important one. But this unique experience can be as stressful as it is joyous. Motherland TV series on BBC Two, piloted last year, premiers this November with a group of Alpha mums who are in a very much unhealthy competition as they navigate this new stage in their life. Motherland TV series Plot
Motherland TV Series follows a group of ‘Alpha Mums’ headed by Amanda (Lucy Punch) who is very much the Queen Bee: everything in her life is organised, clean and sparkly – even the kitchen cork board is a statement of success.
At the other end of the spectrum we meet Liz (Diane Morgan) who’s totally chaotic and feels the kids should enjoy free expression. Somewhere in the middle is Julia (Anna Maxwell-Martin), who, when she forgets it’s the school holidays, realises her organisational skills are nowhere near the level of the ‘Alpha Mums’.
Also in the mix is Kevin (Paul Ready), he’s the stay-at-home dad, who rather than fighting against that, is embracing it with gusto – much to the irritation of the other mothers.

Episode 1
In episode one Julia moves out of her comfort zone and reluctantly invites the entire class to her kid’s birthday party. With her Mum still refusing to help out she relies on Liz’s party hacks and Kevin’s entertaining skills. And anyway, she organises events for a living, this will be a breeze!
Episode 2
It’s the school’s Auction of Promises. Amanda hosts the auction. Julia is assigned a job. Kevin has a battle with the cloakroom and despite Anne’s protests, Liz takes care of the bar.
Episode 3
While Liz is at the newsagents the nice-looking guy in the queue leaves his wallet behind. She takes it and hopes to return it and hopefully turn it into a date. And a new Dad on the scene pushes Kevin’s nose out of joint.
