With Emmy concluding this week, we had some new faces and programs that were crowned for their popularity, story, and performances. While HBO ruled the charts this year, Hulu too the lead in digital platforms with The Handmaid’s Tale becoming the leading program from the network. Now, it is time to think about the next Emmys and shows that are ruling the airwaves now. Some of the TV shows on this list have already figured in the Emmy’s, while others that were released a bit too late didn’t make it to the roster this year. We are sure they will be the leading contenders for the 70th Emmy nominations unless we get some new exciting series. 1. Game of Thrones Season 7

After winning for almost every year for each season, Game of Thrones didn’t make it to the Emmy’s because it was released too late. However it remains one of the most watched and popular series on TV with nearly forty percent of audiences watching it in Season 7.
2. Stranger Things
Set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, the supernatural series remains strong in its second season. The new season is yet to release, but the audiences are eager to visit the town and find out the mystery of disappearance of the young boy. The new season Stranger Things is scheduled to release in October 2017.
3. House of Cards
House of Cards too remained strong and earned audiences favor in its Season 5 released, which released during Summer 2017. The new season has a strong approval rating on review aggregators and opened with a strong episode promising many new twists and turns in Francis Underwood’s fight for survival of his presidency.
4. This is Us
The NBC Drama received ten nominations at the 2017 Emmy’s and was surely one of the best Dramas to come out in the last year. The second season of the series will be released in September 2017. The series follows the lives of three siblings – Kate, Kevin and an adopted boy Randall who is born on the same day and place.
5. Fargo
The black-comedy crime drama is now well into its third season and has maintained its momentum this year too. The latest season was released in Summer of 2017 and continues to hold the interest of at least a quarter of the audience.
6. Better Call Saul
Better Call Saul was a spin-off of Breaking Bad character and captures a lot of attention in its first season. The series, however, seems to have gone out of favor since then and slid down the popularity charts. The third season was aired in early 2017 and the series has been renewed for a fourth season that will air in 2018.
7. Shameless
Shameless is a remake of UK TV Series by the same name and was released first in 2011. The eighth season of the TV Show is scheduled to release in November 2017 on Showtime. The popularity of the show peaked in its third season and has been on the decline since then. However, it still maintains a spot in the top ten Most Watched TV Shows in the US.
8. Westworld
It is hard to resist any Sci-Fi series. This one was again from HBO and based on 1973 movie of the same name, written by Michael Crichton. The series was nominated to 22 Emmy Awards and consistently drew 2 million plus viewers each week. The second season is scheduled to release in 2018.
9. The Crown
The Netflix biographical about Queen Elizabeth II was released in late 2016 and had almost full approval ratings on many aggregation sites. With critics agreeing with the viewers, their assesment was summed up as “Powerful performances and lavish cinematography make The Crown a top-notch production worthy of its grand subject.” The second season is supposed to release in December 2017 and we are sure it will race up the popularity charts by then.
10. The Handmaid’s Tale
The Handmaid’s Tale was no doubt one of the biggest surprises of last year. A Drama based in an apocalyptic world where women are subjugated and have no freedom. They exist only to give birth and increase the population. The Hulu Drama won 8 Emmy awards including the Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series among others.
