I read a Chloe Ellefson book a few years ago and I remember I had liked it. So time to read another one in the series, I thought. The larger story or back story in A Memory of Muskets book seems to have moved ahead a lot. But the plot in this particular book is no less interesting.

A Memory of Muskets Book Plot
Old World Wisconsin is a living museum, a novel concept, I think. It is a whole different world with a different lingo. That itself can be very engrossing for a first time reader. In A Memory of Muskets book, Chloe and Roelke have decided to move in together but they are having doubts. Roelke has finally bought the farm that belonged to his family. But can he keep up with the payments? Chloe thinks there is something off with the place, but she can’t really say that, so she’s dilly dallying, refusing to bring her stuff to the new place.
At work, Chloe is struggling against an incompetent of horrible boss. A man is found dead on the 500+ acre property and it appears he was a Civil War enactor. No one knows who he is and work begins to discover his identity. The book comes to us on two fronts. One is the present story, and the other is the story of Roelke’s ancestor of 1861. It is nice reading about German immigrants who came to the US in the 1860s, only to stare at another war. Many of them lost their lives in the War.
The world of Civil War re-enactments will come alive as we learn about the different facets of the hobby and the different perspectives people have about it.
A Memory of Muskets Book Review
History buffs are going to love A Memory of Muskets book, so will mystery lovers. The story flows along pretty well. I wouldn’t say there’s a lot of investigation as such happening here, but yes, the truth will be revealed in the end and all the Ts crossed. If you have read the series before, you’ll find a lot has changed. But even if you are a first time reader, A Memory of Muskets is like a breath of fresh air among the usual mystery books we read.
