The movie highlights the business environment in India and the obstacles that the system has created for years. It opens in the backdrop of the 1991 actions of the government that opened certain sectors for foreign investors and businesses and ended the License Raj. This brought in a lot of investments, but also made lives of existing businessmen difficult, who until now had almost free run.
Kapil Kapoor is once such businessman. Once the king of snack business in India under License Raj, new businesses have eaten into his market share. Kapoor now faces a certain bankruptcy. But it is not just his business that is making life difficult. His family problems too have bubbled up and he must make some tough choices.
