If you are a procedural TV show fan and love to watch legal drama, there’s a new one coming out on BET in April 2018. From the makers of Law and Order and Rebel, the new legal drama promises to keep you glued to your screens. In Contempt TV show on BET follows a hot shot lawyer who battles personal problems to give legal aid to those who cannot afford it.

In Contempt TV Show Plot
In Contempt TV show departs slightly from the typical law office setting. The hour long procedural is set in the fast paced world of a legal aid office in New York City. We see Gwen Sullivan (Ash) fighting for clients who can’t afford to choose their lawyers. An opinionated and wildly outspoken attorney whose passion for her job and clients, make Gwen arguably the most talented Public Defender in her district.
Along with the complicated cases she tackles in a hurried environment, she must also manage the various distractions at the office, including Charlie (Keyes), the undeserving, but still newly appointed Supervisor, who also happens to be her ex; Earl (Lawson), her stern and hard to please former judge father; Vanessa (Traoré), an uptight rookie lawyer from a privileged background; and her former law professor and the “one who got away”, Bennett (Truvillion).

In Contempt TV Show Review
In Contempt gets into the act from the word go, without losing any time on character building or background information. That works both in favor of the series as well as against it. The fast pace ensures that you are kept engaged in what’s happening on your screens. However, by the end of forst couple of episodes e still don’t have an overarching plot.
Ash King’s performance as the passionate lawyer in good, but the character sketch isn’t magnetic enough at this point. If you like legal shows, the procedural won’t bore you in the 50 odd minute its plays. However, lack of a bigger story may not compel you to wait and return for the next episode.
