Glamorous series on Netflix is a Drama about our current gender choices and how it affects people who choose their genders that do not conform to the age-old societal norms. The drama first made a pitch at The CW but was rejected after a fierce competition. The series was then picked up by Netflix with Miss Benny as the one in the lead role of Marco Mejia.
The Plot
The series follows a young high school graduate who has chosen to not conform to any gender roles. He also talks about cosmetics on YouTube and this exposure lands him an internship at a new cosmetics company. While he lands a dream job, not everyone at the company is happy about it and work to bring him down.
Damon Wayans Jr. is the Executive Producer of the show under the Two Shakes banner.
Eva Longoria directed the pilot of the show. Brooke Shields and Jade Payton were one of the first actors roped in for the project. With the series now helmed by Netflix, Todd Strauss-Schulson will direct and executive produce the first two installments of the upcoming series
Cast and Characters
Brooke Shields plays Madolyn. She is a former supermodel who is no stranger to the covers of Vogue or the runways of Milan and is the founder and CEO of one of the industry’s most respected and sophisticated cosmetics companies. The role was then assigned to Kim Cattrall after the series went to Netflix.
Ricardo Chavira plays Teddy. He is the handsome personal full-time driver for makeup mogul Madolyn Addison, as well as maybe her closest confidant. Professional but unpolished, Teddy is not wow’d by Madolyn’s celebrity or beauty and enjoys calling her out on her bullshit and telling it to her like it is. Their friendly sparring and frank relationship betray a chemistry that could lead to more, if either of them was willing to admit it.
Nicole Power plays Mykynnleigh as a seemingly guileless corporate consultant who rolls into town to help make a business deal happen. Although she seems wholesome and unsophisticated, those appearances are deceiving as Mykynnleigh possesses a lot of backbone and business acumen.
Jade Payton plays Venetia, an ambitious young clotheshorse who serves as Madolyn’s trusted personal assistant.
Pierson Fodé plays Chad, an ambitious alpha male who works at the cosmetics company his mother founded, styling himself as her heir apparent.
Peyton List plays AlyssaSays as an over-the-top YouTube personality with a competitive edge who finds an unexpected home at the same cosmetics firm as Marco.
Susan Santiago will play Julia as a no-nonsense lawyer who has raised her son in a loving and supportive environment where he’s always been held to the highest of standards.
Chester Lockhart plays Dizmal, a non-binary drag performer and nightlife fixture who opens Marco’s eyes to everything the city has to offer a young queer person.
Brady Dalton Richards is Ben, an insecure and endearing young assistant who develops a workplace crush on Marco.
