I am sure you have had your sibling rivalry moments. But maybe not enough to send you to a Siblings Anonymous meeting! Yes, that happens when your brother is the President, or worse, Santa Claus! Fred Claus is Santa’s older brother who has never been able to match his kid brother’s noble image. Fred’s going through a rough phase and takes time off to visit his family at the North Pole.
Fred Claus
Director: David Dobkin
Stars: Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti, Elizabeth Banks
Vince Vaughn as Fred Claus and Paul Giamatti as Santa ensure there is nothing amateurish about this film. Kathy Bates is mother Claus and definitely favors her younger child. Kevin Spacey is the dreaded auditor who thinks Santa’s operation is not efficient enough. Fred is just in time to shake things up a bit.
Witty dialog is something we have come to expect from Vince Vaughn. The elves have a crazy time spurred on by Fred, kids are labeled wrongly causing more chaos, and everyone has a rip roaring time. But underneath it all, this is a tale of two brothers and family, and how they come together in a moment of need.
Fred Claus is a good Christmas movie to remember family values, except maybe for the younger kids. That is if you don’t want them to see a bunch of Santas brawling.
