First Match Movie Plot
Abandoned by her parents, and almost lost we meet Monique in the worst of circumstances. Years in foster care system has made her jaded and survival is the only thing at the top of her mind. But she is decisive and bullheaded.
And what would be better than finding a violent sport to blow off some steam? Monique decides to join the school’s all boys wrestling team. The movie follows the trajectory of most underdog movies and we find Monique struggling with bias, ridicule and more. We also see her struggling with her personal feelings for her father, who is now out of jail, and also one time champion wrestler.
Desperately wanting to make a connection, Monique finally break the ice and gets her father to coach her and for a connection she sorely missed.

Although the tale seems very common and we have seen similar underdog stories, Drama genre lovers will like this new story with the female lead. Good performances by Emmanuel and Matin ensure that you are not distracted from the struggle of the characters and stay invested in the story.
