Filmfare Awards 2017: Winners List

filmfare awards 2017 Nominations

It is the time for the coveted Filmfare Awards 2017. But with so many awards around, has this oldest award function lost its shine? We now have IFFA (International Indian Film Academy Awards), the just concluded Stardust Awards, and then there are numerous hosted by TV channels.

I guess Filmfare still holds the charm for many, that the millennials won’t identify with. Filmfare Award  2017 will be held on 14th January. You can also watch the live streaming of the awards function on Jio TV. For now, checkout our Filmfare Awards 2017 Predictions. Read the complete list of winners at the bottom of the post.

The Awards are judged by a panel of industry experts and there is a component of public voting too. You can attend the function buying a ticket to the award function, which ranges from Rs 10,000 to 300,000.

Filmfare Popular Awards 2017 Nominees

The nominees for the awards are out and there was a lot of hue and cry over exclusion of Akshay Kumar movies. And I will agree that Airlift and Rustom definitely deserved to make it to many of the categories. The nominations appear to have been heavily influenced by popularity compared to the content. Take a look at the list below and tell us if you agree with these nominations or which ones you would have liked to see on the 2017 Filmfare Awards Nominee list. And also tell us what you think of our Filmfare Award 2017 predictions.

filmfare awards 2017 Nominations

Best Playback Singer (Female)

  • Kanika Kapoor
Da da dasse – Udta Punjab
  • Jonita Gandhi
Break up song – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Neeti Mohan
Sau aasman – Baar Baar Dekho
  • Neha Bhasin
    Jag ghoomeya -Sultan
  • Palak Mucchal
Kaun Tujhe – MS Dhoni: The Untold Story
  • Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch
    Kari Kari – Pink

We like the picks here all of these songs were good and some hugely popular. It could have done without Kaun Tujhe and Sau Aasman. There were many from Dhanak, Parched, and Six-X that deserved to be on this list.

MovieRecipe Pick: Da Da Dasse (Kanika Kapoor)

Best Playback Singer (Male)

  • Amit Mishra
Bulleya – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Arijit Singh
Ae dil hai mushkil – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Arijit Singh
Channa mereya – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Atif Aslam
    Tere sang yara – Rustom
  • Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
    Jag ghoomeya – Sultan

Arijit Singh is a good singer and we have nothing against him, but two nominations are a bit of an overkill here. There were many like Nakash Aziz, Tony Kakkar, and Rahul Jain who deserved a place here.

MovieRecipe Pick: Bulleya (Amit Mishra)

Best Lyrics

  • Amitabh Bhattacharya – Channa mereya (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)
  • Gulzar – Aave re hitchki (Mirzya)
  • Gulzar – Mirzya (Mirzya)
  • Irshad Kamil – Jag ghoomeya (Sultan)
  • Kausar Munir – Love you zindagi (Dear Zindagi)
  • Late Shiv Kumar Batalvi – Ikk kudi (Udta Punjab)

MovieRecipe Pick: Mirzya (Gulzar)

Best Music Album

  • Amaal Mallik, Badshah, Arko, Tanishk Bagchi, Benny Dayal and Nucleya
    Kapoor & Sons
  • Amit Trivedi
    Udta Punjab
  • Meet Bros, Amaal Mallik, Ankit Tiwari & Manj Musik
    Baaghi
  • Pritam
    Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
    Mirzya
  • Vishal-Shekhar
    Sultan

These are easily the worst nominee picks from this year’s music. That music albums like Rustom, Fever, Ishq Click didn’t make it to this list is a shame. Befikre was another album that surely deserved a place here over Baaghi! But if we had to pick one,

MovieRecipe Pick: Udta Punjab

Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Female)

  • Kareena Kapoor Khan – Udta Punjab
  • Kirti Kulhari – Pink
  • Ratna Pathak Shah – Kapoor & Sons
  • Richa Chadda – Sarbjit
  • Shabana Azmi – Neerja

We have no arguments here. This perhaps one of the only nominations that have got it right. We are kind of torn here between Shabana Azmi and Kirti Kulhari. But Kirti Kulhari deserves an award for her powerful performance in the movie.

MovieRecipe Pick: Kirti Kulhari (Pink)

Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Male)

  • Diljit Dosanjh – Udta Punjab
  • Fawad Khan – Kapoor & Sons
  • Jim Sarbh – Neerja
  • Rajat Kapoor – Kapoor & Sons
  • Rajkummar Rao – Aligarh
  • Rishi Kapoor – Kapoor & Sons

Once again the panel disappoints us here with the nominees. As praiseworthy as Neerja’s life is, the movie was a disaster. We would have liked to see Jimmy Shergill for Happy Bhag Jayegi or Amitabh Bachchan for Wazir here.

MovieRecipe Pick: Rishi Kapoor (Kapoor & Sons)

Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female)

  • Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – Sarbjit
  • Alia Bhatt – Dear Zindagi
  • Alia Bhatt – Udta Punjab
  • Anushka Sharma – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Sonam Kapoor – Neerja
  • Vidya Balan – Kahaani 2

The Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) seems to be on target somewhat, but definiteley would not have missed Alia Bhatt from Dear Zindagi here.

MovieRecipe Pick: Alia Bhatt (Udta Punjab)

Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male)

  • Aamir Khan – Dangal
  • Amitabh Bachchan – Pink
  • Ranbir Kapoor – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Salman Khan – Sultan
  • Shah Rukh Khan – Fan
  • Shahid Kapoor – Udta Punjab
  • Sushant Singh Rajput – MS Dhoni: The Untold Story

Filmfare panel seem to have this selection right too. We are torn between SRK Fan and Sushant in Dhoni movie. Aamir to did a fabulous job as Mahavir Singh Phogat, and there is a tough choice to make for the jury here.

MovieRecipe Pick: Sushant Singh Rajput (MS Dhoni: The Untold Story)

Best Director

  • Abhishek Chaubey – Udta Punjab
  • Ali Abbas Zafar – Sultan
  • Karan Johar – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Nitesh Tiwari – Dangal
  • Ram Madhvani – Neerja
  • Shakun Batra – Kapoor & Sons

Once again not the best of the nominee list here. I would shave off the bottom two fr M. S. Dhoni movie and Airlift was surely made better than Neerja.

MovieRecipe Pick: Nitesh Tiwari (Dangal)

Best Film

  • Dangal
  • Kapoor & Sons
  • Neerja
  • Pink
  • Sultan
  • Udta Punjab

Many on the list do not deserve to be here. But we will not repeat the same this again. If made to choose from the given list, there is no doubt which is the best movie.

MovieRecipe Pick: Dangal

We are excited for the movie awards night and see Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar in action as they host ‘Filmfare Awards 2017’ this Saturday. Do leave a comment and share your picks for the awards.
