Doomsday Mom follows Lori Vallow as her strong beliefs in end of the world date put people she loved in mortal danger.
In early 2019, Lori’s extended family got suspicious when they couldn’t contact Lori’s children JJ and Tylee. After some digging, the family managed to get the Welfare department to check on the children, but were unsuccessful. The police were finally involved and visited the house in Fall of 2019. However, they were turned away as Lori told them that the kids are in Arizona.
The police returned again the next day, but this time, Lori and Chad Daybell were gone. Days later the two were spotted in Hawaii and ordered by Idaho court to report with children. When Lori failed to do so, they were arrested. In the mean time, Idaho police managed to get a Search warrant of the house and discovered to corpses in the house that were later confirmed to be JJ and Tylee’s.
Investigation further revealed more suspicious deaths in the extended family and the couple was finally charged with first degree murder in 2021.
Why Lori and Chad did this? It is not entirely clear, but some believe that the two were ardent believers of doomsday theories and Lori staunchly believed that she was assigned to carry out the work for Christ’s second comin in July 2020.
