Matt Groening, the man behind The Simpsons and Futurama is coming back after nearly a decade and his fans will be happy to see that he is offering something new and fresh once again. Disenchantment Netflix series follows a princess who decides to break the shackles and venture out in the real world and experience real things.

The new series departs from Groening’s earlier series and is set in a fantastical world in medieval times. With some old voices and new, the series promises to give a good laugh and also a strong social message. The series releases on Netflix this August. The entire 10-episode first season will be available at the time of release on Netflix.

Disenchantment Netflix Series Plot
Disenchantment Netflix series tells the story of three unlikely friends – a rebellious princess, an elf, and a demon – coming of age in a fantastical medieval world. Bean is a hard-drinking and hardly stereotypical 19-year-old princess who longs to break free from her controlling father, the tyrannical King Zøg and Queen Dagmar of Dreamland. She lost her mother when just a child and knows that she will never be allowed to rule the patriarchal kingdom.
That is bequeathed to Prince Derek, the 12-year-ol son of Kink Zog and her stepmother Queen Oona. Bean distrusts and dislikes her and sees her as an evil stepmother, but there could be more to her than Bena understands.
With a little help from Luci, her mischievous personal demon and a naïve, insatiably curious elf named Elfo, she begins to experience life on her own terms – with unexpected consequences. Bean is cursed with Luci from a faraway place. Luci, like Bean, is a young demon. Bean is his first assignment and his mission is to steer Bean toward darkness.
After barely escaping an arranged marriage, Bean and her pals set off to explore unfamiliar lands. Gnomes, goblins, imps, mermaids, swamp monsters and more await them, as do some heartfelt lessons.
