Charmed Reboot Plot
Charmed Reboot follows three sisters in a small college town who find out that they have magical abilities and are witches. “Stronger together.” That’s what Marisol told her three daughters, aggressive social justice warrior Melanie “Mel” Vera, and her sister, a more laid back Maggie, about their family.
Mel is a graduate student in the women’s studies her mom heads at Hilltowne University. Maggie is a freshman contemplating sorority rush and going “on” again with her on-again/off-again boyfriend, Brian.
However their happy lives are interrupted by a shocking tragedy that shatters their world and threatens their sibling bond. Marisol, their mother, dies in a horrifying accident. Or was it? Three months later, Mel is still unable to accept the official explanation of their mother’s death, while Maggie accuses her of being obsessed.
But then, another huge surprise turns up at their front door. They find out that they have an older sister – brilliant geneticist Macy. A secret their mother kept all these years! Macy is in town for the first time, and doesn’t know a soul, other than the cute fellow scientist showing her around. Macy is excited to connect with her sisters Mel and Maggie, but Mel can’t handle another shock, and ignores her.
With emotions of all three sisters running high, the girls suddenly exhibit inexplicable new abilities. Mel can stop time, Maggie can hear others’ thoughts, and Macy possesses telekinetic powers. But not to worry, there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation! Or so says Harry Greenwood – the officious new chair of the women’s studies department – when he brings together the three sisters and reveals they’re actually powerful witches, as was their mother. And, of course, he’s not really a professor, he’s their “Whitelighter,” a witch’s advisor and guide! And Mel was right all this time. Their mother’s death was no accident – she was killed by an unknown dark force.
It’s a lot to take in, but ultimately the sisters accept their new life as The Charmed Ones, and their new duty to safeguard humans from the demons that walk among us, and also one of whom killed their mother. With the Power of Three, they are stronger as a team even if they have no idea what they’re really up against.
