Carter TV Series Plot
Carter TV show follows Harley Carter (Jerry O’Connell), an actor who went to Hollywood and became a big TV star. As the star of the 1# detective show in America, Harley has all the trappings of fame and success but his years in Hollywood have worn him down.
An endless blur of parties, premieres and 16-hour workdays have left him with only vague memories of who he used to be – and he likes and misses the old Harley. Plus, his impetuous marriage to supermodel Winter Wood (Brooke Nevin) is falling apart – in part as she’s sleeping with one of Harley’s friends and co-stars and it’s this that leads Harley to an ill-advised and humiliating red carpet fist fight over the affair.
Harley walks away from it all, despite the two years left on his contract, and heads to his northern home to re-evaluate his life. Back in Bishop, it’s difficult for Harley to get people to see past his TV character and take him seriously. Including is two best friends Sam Shaw (Sydney Poitier Heartsong) and Dave Leigh (Kristian Bruun) who think he might be having a midlife crisis.
The Mayor sees the famous TV detective as a potential tourist attraction for the town while the police chief wants him nowhere near a crime scene. His housekeepers/odd parental units love him dearly, but secretly think he’s a spoiled baby.
Burnt out on Hollywood, Harley has turned a corner in his life and wants to prove that he’s more than a pretty face. It’s time for him to show the world that he doesn’t just play a detective on TV, but can solve real crimes… including the mystery of his mother’s disappearance 25 years ago.

Carter TV Series Review
O’Connell comes across as the obnoxious but lovable amateur sleuth and hits all the right notes for a light detective drama with minimal gruesome and gore. Fans of Private Eyes and readers who love cozy mysteries on the Hallmark channel will love this new series. Small town, quirky characters and fun detective team. Carter is a bit tropey, but definitely something you can watch as a comedy murder drama.
