As far as I remember, Ben-Hur movie (1959) was one of the first English movies that I watched as a kid ages ago when we got a new theater in our city. It was the winner of eleven Academy Awards and grand, at the time. The only thing I remember now from that movie is that it was intense and the chariot race where the wheel comes off in the final moments.
Ben-Hur (2016)

Director: Timur Bekmambetov
Expeted Release: 19th August
Ben-Hur movie is now back in a new avatar. It would be fun to watch this action-packed epic historical drama. Ben-Hur movie is based on Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. The book was a bestseller in the US all through the turn of century until Gone With the Wind, written by Margaret Mitchell toppled it. The Ben-Hur book has since been adapted into various formats including dramas and movies.
Ben-Hur is a story of a fictional Jewish prince (Jack Huston) from Jerusalem who is enslaved by Romans. Set in the same time as that of life of Jesus, the story reflects themes of betrayal, redemption, and revenge.
Ben-Hur is accused by his childhood friend and brother, Messala (Toby Kebell) of attempting to kill the Roman commanding officer. He is imprisoned along with his entire family. He later meets Jesus in the Roman prison and is further inspired by his views as he witnesses the Crucifixion.
During this time he befriends a ship commander, who trains him as a soldier. Together, they plan to return to Jerusalem and get revenge for his family. In the movie Sheik Ilderim (Morgan Freeman) replaces the ship commander in the original story as someone who trains Ben-Hur.
It should be a lot of fun to watch this epic entertainer with all the bells and whistles of modern film-making and post-production embellishments. The movie’s scheduled to be released in the US on 19th August and should release in India either on 19th or 26th of August 2016. Can’t wait to watch this one.
