BBC One is coming up with another intense Drama and this one has everyone’s favorite Hugh Grant in the lead role. Based on the book written by John Preston – A Very English Scandal: Sex, Lies and a Murder Plot – the new three part TV series tells the story of disgraced British MP Jeremy Thorpe who was accused of murdering his ex-lover. The case was also important at the time because it was the first time a British MP had to stand trial for murder. A Very English Scandal Story

A Very English Scandal is about Jeremy Thorpe, who was tried and acquitted in a murder trial in the late 7os. The drama series begins around that time. Britain has decriminalized homosexuality by this time. However, it is still not looked upon in good light. Jeremy, a Liberal MP is on a fast career track.

However, there are some skeletons in his closet. As long his ex-lover Norman Scott is around, his affair can go public and jeopardise his career any time. After trying different ways to ensure that the truth never comes out and failing, there seems to be no sure way of keeping the affair under wraps for ever.

The only way to keep the secret a secret is to silence Scott forever.
