Iron Chef Showdown 2017 Format
In each episode of Iron Chef Showdown 2017, Alton welcomes two formidable chef competitors to Kitchen Stadium and they battle each other in the Chairman’s Challenge to create their best dish based upon a secret ingredient.
Alton is the sole judge to determine which chef advances to the next level: an epic duel against a legendary Iron Chef in the Secret Ingredient Showdown.
Then tradition comes to life as Alton, the Chairman, floor reporter Jaymee Sire and a rotating judge panel of two culinary experts oversee the competitor versus Iron Chef action.
Ultimately, the two guest judges taste the offerings and determine “whose cuisine reigns supreme?” in these epic Iron Chef battles.

Episode 1 – Premiere
Iron Chef Showdown 2017 kicks off with a Thanksgiving-themed episode, as Iron ChefBobby Flay lies in wait while Chicago chef Matt Kerney battles against Floridachef Lindsay Autry over ingredients from America’s favorite holiday in the Chairman’s Challenge. Then, John Besh and Antonia Lofaso serve as judges for the Thanksgiving Secret Ingredient Showdown between the first-round winner and Iron Chef Flay.
Episode 2
San Francisco chef Hiroo Nagamura takes on Los Angeles chef David Schlosser. The chef with the best first-round dish sizes up Iron Chef Michael Symon in a battle featuring a perfect protein, and judges Niki Nakayama and Caroline Styne pick the winner.
Episode 3
Rival Boston chefs Matt Jennings and Kristen Kish settle an old grudge in a head-to-head match over a cured classic. Roy Choi and Antonia Lofaso judge as the winning chef faces Iron Chef Jose Garces, who comes out swinging over an Italian favorite.
Episode 4
New York chef Leah Cohen takes on rival Boston chef Marcellus Coleman, and the winner cases Iron Chef Stephanie Izard in Kitchen Stadium. The guest judges are Lesley Bargar Suter and Simon Majumdar.
Episode 5
The holidays hit Kitchen Stadium as Los Angeles chef Ted Hopson faces Detroit chef Kate Williams in a sweet showdown. The winning chef goes up against Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli in a classic holiday battle judged by Paul Bartolotta and Nancy Silverton.
Episode 6
Midwestern master chefs Tory Miller and Jenner Tomaska face off using one of the most versatile vegetables around. Then the winner takes on Iron Chef Bobby Flay in an all-American meat battle judged by John Besh and Giada De Laurentiis.
Episode 7
New Orleans chef Brian Landry cooks off against Chicago chef Ryan McCasky using a super decadent ingredient. The winning chef gets a shot against Iron Chef Stephanie Izard in a deep-sea duel judged by Susan Feniger and Jonathan Waxman.
Episode 8
Alabama chef David Bancroft crosses knives with New York chef Roxanne Spruance over the most favorite of fruits. The winning chef takes on Iron Chef Jose Garces in a meaty matchup judged by Sarah Hymanson and Sara Kramer.
Episode 9
Miami chef Timon Balloo battles Philadelphia chef Nicholas Elmi over a bar food staple. Then the winning chef goes up against Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli in a giant seafood battle and the judges Anya Fernald and Ludo Lefebvre pick the winner.
Episode 10
Portland chef Gregory Gourdet takes on San Diego chef Brian Redzikowski over a challenging fruit. Then the winner readies for a fowl battle with Iron Chef Michael Symon that’s judged by Judy Joo and Simon Majumdar.
