In Hindu texts, Mahakali is the first deity appearing in Devi Mahatmayam, the text about different goddesses. The end is the beginning is the end. And, in the end, time devours everyone and everything. And Kali, from Kaala or time is the primordial goddess who devours time itself. Worshiped by Tantriks, Kali is the destroyer of the evil forces, and also the liberator.

Mahakali Serial Story
There’s very little known about Mahakali and her forms in popular culture. Associated with Tantra or Tantric rituals, like reciting mantra in the cremation grounds in the middle of the night, this form of the goddess is not worshipped by many.
