Wicked Summer by Roma Brooks

wicked summer book review

Roma Brooks comes up with another book set at the Rising Tides Inn. We met Sandhya and James in Clipper Beach, Book 1, but contrary to what I thought, this book is not a sequel to their story. What you have in Wicked Summer is a completely new set of characters visiting Cape Harriet. The extended Bloom family is meeting to celebrate their mother’s 60th birthday.

Sounds boring? It is anything but that. A borderline dysfunctional family with three sisters who jump at every occasion to put the other one down. Secrets that can change everything they have known all their lives, and drama that will well up your eyes. Roma Brooks gives you everything in Wicked Summer.

Wicked Summer Review

Clipper Beach introduced us to the Cape Harriet community and the Rising Tides inn. Wicked Summer, the new book peels another layer as more characters from the local community make an appearance. The author doesn't disappoint you and the book progresses in the same flowing narrative as the first one. Only this one has a lot more food and you just can't read the book without, at least, a bowl of popcorn. Wicked Summer also has a lot of twists and turns and there isn't a dull moment in the book. I am sure you will want to finish the book without an interruption. I like that the author keeps you on the edge every now and then and makes you guess what's going to happen next. I don't usually read drama genre books, but the the active writing is good enough to keep me invested in the book.
