1. Queen Sugar - OWN
The Director of hit film Selma comes to you with Queen Sugar this Fall on OWN. The Series is based on Natalie Baszile's book by the same name. A treat for Family Drama lovers, the series centers around Charley Bordelon, her daughter and the family that she returns to. Earnest Bordelon has bequeathed his 800 acre farm equally between Bordelon Siblings. Charley, living in California decides to move back to Louisiana and take up farming. As the Summer season unfolds, it brings new challenges and troubles within the family and with the locals. The show promises to be an engaging saga with twists and turns that will keep you rooted to the TV screens. The show premiers with two episodes on consecutive days - 6th and 7th September 10.00 PM and will then be aired every Wednesday at 10.
2. StartUp - Crackle
The Action-Drama series StartUp has an interesting plot. Three strangers hungry for success come together to start a digital currency company GenCoin. But this is not your usual Silicon Valley based geeky tech drama. StartUp has guns, gangs, and a lot of fights as an FBI agent makes it his mission to expose the dirty money behind the start up. This is perhaps the first TV series or movie that explores the topic of how digital currency like Bitcoin works and how it can be misused. StartUp will air its first episode on Sony's streaming network Crackle on September 6th 2016.
3. Quarry - Cinemax
Based on the novels by Max Allan Collins, Quarry takes you back in time. Mac Conway returns to Memphis after the long-drawn war in Vietnam. Only he is not seen as a War Hero. Shunned by his own lot and people in general, Mac gravitates toward the corrupt and violent elements. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgISvffeT-8 The Action-Drama will be aired on 9th September 2016 on Cinemax. The series casts Logan-Marshall Green as the lead in the eight episode drama series, along with Jodi Balfour and Peter Mullan.
4. This is Us - NBC
An emotional drama that follows the lives of five couples and their families. Each one has a problem, each one has hopes, and what's more, most of them share the same birthday. As the series progresses viewers can expect that lives of these people will intertwine. However the story progresses, This is Us looks like a good choice for pure drama audience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfUiKg28r_M The series will premiere on 20th September 2016 with Mandy Moore and Milo Vantimiglia in the lead roles with others.
5. Designated Survivor - ABC
24 Star Kiefer Sutherland comes in another gripping political drama this Fall. Washington D.C is attacked and the leader is gone and so is the rest of the political brass. With this devastating attack, the next in line for president is the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (Kiefer Sutherland), who has never been elected from anywhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_f1v0Nx5Sw Well, the theme isn't that different and we have had multiple movies on this theme. But with Kiefer Sutherland, you can expect a good Action-Political-Drama. Designated Survivor airs on 21st September 2016 on ABC
6. Lethal Weapon - Fox
For the fans of Lethal Weapon franchise, Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh are coming back in the new TV series by the same name. After Rush Hour, this will be another TV series based on buddy cop movies. Frankly, Rush Hour TV series was a bust. But this one surely looks promising. Can't wait to watch the Lethal Weapon series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXZdEmvcFdU The onscreen chemistry between Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford looks as good as the original movie stars, which was sorely missing in the Rush Hour TV series. The series will premiere on 21st September 2016 on Fox.
7. Notorious - ABC
A new legal drama for the fans of Shark. Notorious is inspired by true stories that captured media attention and became national headlines. Media trials have the power to swing public opinion and many times give out a sentence that is more damaging than the courts. Notorious looks at this interplay between media and the lawyers and how they use each other for their benefit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjeWjrkRczM The thrilling legal drama will air on 22nd September 2016 on ABC.
8. Pitch - Fox
An engaging sports drama is on your way this Fall. A woman Pitcher will be seen playing with the boys in a major league team. Fox is calling it a true story on the verge of happening. Pitch promises to be a refreshing change from all the crime and legal dramas that flood our TV schedules. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0wLCGwYZ3g The series debuts on 22nd September 2016 on Fox. 2016 surely promises to have an amazing lineup for couch potatoes. But we have Queen Sugar clashing with Designated Survivor on Wednesdays 10 PM. These are different genres and it may not affect a lot of viewers. However, we cannot say the same about Notorious and Pitch which air on Thursdays 9 PM. Thankfully, we have DVRs and online streaming.
