Kabali Movie Synopsis

Kabali movie Very little has been let out by the Kabali movie team and everything is very hush-hush, in spite of all the brouhaha about Kabali movie being leaked online.  Rajinikanth's character in Kabali is true to his real age. The director claims that the audience will see the actor Raijni than the superstar Rajini. Kabali is a story of Kabaleeswaran, who fights for the rights of Malaysian Tamils. This smacks of movies like Dayavan, only in a new setting. Kabali's climax will be the best part of the film and the actor had stressed on the movie to end on a sad note rather than on a fun note. So be prepared to come out of the movie halls teary eyed.

Kabali Movie Trivia

  • Did you know Kabali just as easily could have been a Sci-Fi movie? The director and writer had offered the choice to make it a sci-fi movie or a gangster movie, but Rajni's daughter decided it had to be a gangster movie. Memories of Robot must have been still strong.
  • A Rajini movie instantly reminds one of Rajini jokes, but this one will have none of that.
  • Kabali will be the first Indian film that will also be released in Malay Language. Rajini has learned the language and all the dialogues in Malay are recorded by him.
  • Kabali had shattered records even before its release. The movies trailer got 1 million views within two hours of the release.

Kabali Vs. Sultan

While there isn't much we can compare because the movies are not released on the same day. Moreover, Sultan had the advantage of a holiday release. But Kabali isn't something you can take lightly. Kabali is scheduled to release across more than a 1,000 screens worldwide. The director believes that the movie could cross the 500 Crore mark in total earnings. To topple this year's Bollywood Blockbuster Sultan, Kabali will have to cross the opening day 36 Crore mark. Sultan also had the advantage that no other move was released during that entire weekend. But if Kabali's popularity is any indication, it should not be much of a problem. Here's how it compares to other movies released on 22nd July worldwide, based on Google numbers. Madaari was going to release with Sultan, but the director pushed the date to escape Sultan mania, only to get caught by Kabali. Would have loved to see it release with GGM. kabali worldwide popularity

Kabali Movie Review

July 22nd is here and the cinema hall is packed with people eager to see Kabali. It is a full house for sure. You might have noticed 'Super Star Rajini' in the credits when you watched the movie trailer. Well, the movie opens with a big Super Star Rajni banner, in case you had any doubts. In my mind, I have always thought of the star as "Rajinikanth" - maybe 'Rajni' is more trendy now. Kabali starts like any typical gangster movie, with a formidable patriarch Ram Prasad. Two of his lieutenants evolve into rival gangs. Rajini is of course the 'good' bad boy. There is a lot of talk of atrocities by a rival gang, but none are actually shown.  The movie keeps shifting timelines and the overall effect appears somewhat disjoint. The foot stomping 'Jumma Chumma De De' playing in a club took me back, back to the 90s, and made me wonder what the date was for a moment. The background music, loud enough to shatter your ear drums seems like the only thrill. A lot of the dialogues have no impact, and fail to be effective. This could be because of the translation as the expressions don't match the dialogues every time. It is quite obvious who the assassin is. So there are no big surprises in the story or a lot of twists and turns. As far as gangster movies go, Kabali is not that great. I have seen better. For Rajini's fans too, I think, this will be a big disappointment. With a toned down version of Rajini, there is nothing much to watch. For Hindi moviegoers, I will recommend that you watch Madaari this week, which although a Drama, is a better option.

Kabali Box Office Collection

The movie may not be the best of Rajinikanth's, but the fans surely propelled the movie up the charts on the first day. By current estimation, Kabali has First Day collection of more than Rs. 40 Crore. The movie is expected to cross Rs. 120 Crore for the weekend, if word of mouth doesn't play a spoilsport. In spite of average reviews, Rajinikanth's Kabali seems to be on its way to be the highest grosser of the year, as of now. While Sultan's three-day collection was around Rs. 70 Crore, Kabali has already crossed Rs. 140 Crore in the first three days. Kabali's Overseas Box Office collection came to around USD 6 million. In the US, Kabali has joined the 3 Million club and has surpassed Srimanthudu's record to become all-time no. 2 in the first three days.
