The Witcher Netflix Series Plot
The Witcher series revolves around Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter set in the world of The Continent.
The Continent is the product of a mysterious cosmic event that caused all of the dimensions in the universe to collide and open up, dumping all its inhabitants onto The Continent. This event is known within the series as the “Conjunction of the Spheres” and occurred two thousand years prior to where the series begins.
The Continent’s inhabitants include elves, gnomes, humans, beasts, mages, dwarves and dragons.
Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher. A witcher is a monster hunter and people fear witchers because of their differences. As a child, Geralt was given up by his mother to the men at Kaer Morhen to endure mutations and experimental trials that, more often than not, killed the children they were inflicted on.
Princess Cirilla, or Ciri, Queen Calanthe’s granddaughter, had a sheltered upbringing and experiences tremendous loss when Cintra falls and she escapes.
Yennefer of Vengerberg was not born beautiful but rather, p owerful . The budding mage was turned over to the Academy at Aretuza, where she was trained to become the most powerful sorceress the school would ever train.
Their narratives occur over three separate timelines: Geralt’s is about 30 years. Yennefer’s story takes place over hundreds of years while Ciri’s is only two weeks.
Since the Conjunction of the Spheres, all of these different races inhabiting The Continent have been at odds with each other.
