Gentleman Jack series follows industrialist, traveler, mountaineer, and scholar, Anne Lister returns from years of travel to her ancestral home, determined to restore Shibden Hall to its former glory.
To do this she must re-open her coal mines and marry well. Charismatic, single-minded, swashbuckling Anne walks like a man, dresses head-to-foot in black, and charms her way into high society. And she has no intention of marrying a man.
Set in West Yorkshire in 1832, Shibden Hall is the epic story in the midst of industrial revolution and explores Anne Lister’s relationships at home with her family, her servants, her tenants and her industrial rivals, who will use any dirty tricks they can to bring her down.
