John Riggi of 30 Rock writes this new series set in the 70s. The series is loosely based on the upbringing of The Real Housewives of Bevery Hills star Kyle Richards and casts Alicia Silverstone in the lead role. The 12-episode first season premieres on Paramount Network in June.

American Woman TV show takes you to the time when the US was witnessing a resurgence in feminist activism. Woman had finally won the right to vote and property after the suffragette movement, but that was not enough. They still faced discrimination when it came to work, make financial decisions, and have a say in family decisions.
The series follows Bonnie a determined but vulnerable LA woman who has decided to take a bold decision. She has walked out on her husband and picked up her two daughters on the way out. She intends to build an independent life of her own and give her daughters an environment she never had growing up.
To begin her new life, Bonnie relies on her two best friends: Kathleen and Diana. As Bonnie builds her new life, the three women discover their version of independence in a world that constantly denies them everything they want.
