First released last year, Ackley Bridge Series 1 received a lot of praise from the critics for depicting a balanced view of cultural differences and keeping the identity intact without casting stereotypes in its school drama. Starting June, Ackley Bridge series 2 returns on Channel 4 and takes the story forward with more challenges related to integration. Ackley Bridge Series 2 Plot
Set in an academy situated in the racially divided Yorkshire town of Ackley Bridge, the first series introduces us to the many families adjusting to the union of two schools.
Building upon the first series, Ackley Bridge series 2 explores some of the harder hitting issues that affect such communities up and down Britain. Nas’s needs to navigate her traditional background and her modern sexual and emotional identity. On the other hand, Kaneez finds her newfound independence a challenge as well as an opportunity.
Meanwhile, Jordan attempts to make something of himself despite strained relationships with his family, pupils who are vulnerable not just from gangs but the dangers that lurk at home, and the very real ramifications of squeezed budgets and failing students threatening the very future of the school.

Episode 1
In a bid to disguise her sexuality, Nas has agreed to a sham engagement with Naveed – who is also in the closet. But, reeling from the discovery of a family secret, she struggles to continue the lie and emotions run high at the family engagement dinner. Elsewhere, it is the day of Sami’s wedding and Emma struggles to hide her feelings for him. Meanwhile, Missy and Nas cause trouble for Jordan when they steal his drugs money whilst in disguise.
Episode 2
Ashamed of Cory’s lack of interest, Jordan promises Candice to pay for half, but when The Murgatroyds splash out, Jordan can’t deliver his side of the cash. Cory and Jordan unite as they try to hustle some money, but a volatile Kevin brings an abrupt end to their antics. Meanwhile, Mandy finds herself getting jealous over Steve, when his ex turns up at the school, but is it too late for their relationship?
Episode 3
Still reeling from the revelation of Iqbal’s secret family, Kaneez confronts the other woman and decides she wants to take her life back. When Rashid asks her out on a date, Kaneez realizes she needs to put her happiness first for once. Elsewhere, Missy is desperate for her family and friends to come to terms with her boyfriend. However Hayley’s insecurities about men come to a head when she clashes with Missy over Aaron. Will Hayley end up pushing Aaron away with her actions?
