One Way or Another book turned out to be more intense than I bargained for. I have read and loved many books by Elizabeth Adler including Hotel Riviera or The Secret of the Villa Mimosa. Exotic locations and lifestyles of the rich are depicted wonderfully in her books and there is always some mystery or intrigue. Well, this one has mystery alright.

One Way or Another Book Plot
One Way or Another book starts with an accident, or rather attempted murder. Angie, a redhead is pushed off a yacht in the Aegean sea near a Turkish village called Fethiye. As she plunges to her death, she is seen by a reclusive painter who is relaxing on the beach. He tries to find her but in vain. The readheaded girl vanishes, leaving Marco Polo Mahoney wondering whether he really saw her.
Marco is a world famous portrait artist who is living very simply in his small beach house in Fethiye. His girl friend Martha is British but works in New York. Lucy is a seventeen year old lazy struggling artist who is Martha’s kid sister. Ahmet Ghulbian is a billionaire who hires Marco to paint him.
We learn that Angie is perhaps alive and the narrative switches to her periodically. There is a dark element at the heart of the story. Marco and Martha catch on to who the culprit is very early on. They think Angie died in the sea. Martha is then hired to redecorate a house called Marshlands which is bleak, dangerous and supposedly haunted.
Somehow, Ahmet succeeds in making Marco Polo, Martha, Lucy, all work for him and around him. And they are drawn in in spite of knowing that evil lurks around Ahmet.
One Way or Another Book Review
One Way or Another can be termed a thriller, I suppose. The characters of Marco, Martha and Lucy are quite believable. Angie is another aspect of the story. There is a feeling a doom throughout the story.
