The Christmas Blessing is set in a small New England town. Nathan (Neal Patrick Harris) is a surgical resident who has a meltdown and is home for Christmas. He meets school teacher Meghan (Rebecca Gayheart). Charlie is a kid with a chronic and serious condition. What follows is an emotional tale that will probably make a dent in your Kleenex.
The Christmas Blessing (2005)
Director: Karen Arthur
Stars: Neil Patrick Harris, Rebecca Gayheart, Angus T. Jones
Charlie is new to town, and finds that he and Nathan both lost their mom at a young age. There are some pretty dancing shoes that Nathan had gifted his mother, and they surprisingly appear with Charlie. Nathan’s father is overwhelmed with dealing with his grief for so many years and plans to sell everything and move away. Rob Lowe appears in a cameo. The story is good and the performances are strong.
This is a sentimental tale – a different kind of Christmas movie. There is not too much ho-ho-ho, but there is still a message.
We cannot always control the things life throws at us. All we can do is make the best of the time we have, and make the best of today!
