Indigo Deli, Pune | Enjoy the Deli Daily

·

Pheonix Market City has been the crown in Pune’s Mall circuit for a  long time. It is easily one of the best places to hang out and spend a day. And now, you have one more reason to visit this place. Indigo Deli has been catering to patrons in Powai, Bandra, and Colaba for a long time, and was one of the most awaited restaurants in Pune. Food lovers in Pune were waiting to get the simple and soothing experience of a Diner style menu and food and Indigo Deli has now plugged that gap.

Indigo Deli is located on the third floor of Phoenix Market City, which is becoming a hub for fine dining within the mall. One of the drawbacks of Mall restaurants is that you often have to tread through the entire mall before getting to the restaurant of choice. However, you don’t have to worry about that here. I suggest you park in B area of the parking lot at the Mall and take elevator B11. This will take you directly to the restaurant.

The sprawling Indigo Deli has a contemporary ambience with touch of a European Deli. You have different sections with Booths around the bar area and tables scattered in other parts. You can choose to sit in front of the see-through kitchen and enjoy what’s happening behind the scenes, if you like to see the bustle of a busy kitchen.

Ample spaces between tables ensures that you don’t feel crowded and have enough privacy for conversation. The dark furniture shades and walls provide a mellow tone and you can enjoy nibbling at the delicious food and spend quality time with your friends and family.

All Indigo Deli restaurants have more or less the same menu, but the local chef comes up with a daily specials menu that gives each place its unique taste. The Pune Indigo Deli is headed by Sous Chef Tushar Deshpande, a Le Cordon Bleu graduate from London. His passion for French cooking is evident in the rich food that he serves at the Deli. His philosophy that dining should be an unforgettable experience comes out not only in the flavors but also in the presentation of the food.

Indigo Deli menu is vast and serves everything from an All-Day Breakfast to sumptuous Sandwiches to mouthwatering desserts that you won’t find at many places in Pune.

Most of the preparations are mildly spiced. But that doesn’t mean that they are low on taste. The soup menu changes daily and you will have to ask your server for the day’s menu. I was lucky to have seafood soup on the menu on the day. The heady flavor of the seafood broth was combined with a bit of tomato and a hint of saffron that gave a delicious flavor to this clear soup base.

Our Daily Specials menu had a lot to offer from staples like Pizza and Sandwiches to a main course that would spoil you for choice.

The Red Wine Poached Pear Salad was dressed with a wine reduction along with soft wine flavored pear, balanced with candied nuts. But the Pizzas were the one that surprised us. The wafer thin crust of the Pizza with loads of toppings and cheeses were yummy. You must try the 3 Peppers and 3 Cheese pizza that had soft fresh mozzarella and smoky Scamorza that made the pizza irresistible.

For those who love the BBQ sauce, you can go for the BBQ Chicken Pizza that is equally delicious.

What is a Deli without sandwiches? There is huge range of veggie sandwiches that you can choose from, along with some wraps. If you like Mushrooms, the Mushroom and Brie sandwich is a must-try at Indigo Deli.

The simplicity of preparation and fresh ingredients is what will bring you back to Indigo Deli. Nothing beats a good fish and some rice when you are hoping for a simple meal. The Pan seared Black Pomfret served on the bed of saffron flavored rice is a dream for seafood lovers. Spiced lightly with Pepper, the fish was cooked just enough to be flaky and retained its moistness.

If seafood isn’t your thing, you can go for some Deli classics like Roast Chicken and Mash. The one we had was served with roasted garlic flavored potato mash. The chicken was served with a Red Wine Jus and slow roasted onion and garlic.

But when you think of comfort food, nothing can beat a nice a creamy, goeey bake. Phoenix Market City, Pune has many shops and enough entertainment options to enjoy a full day. And there is no better way than to start with a hearty breakfast like Eggs Divinity at Indigo Deli. A huge cup of Potato Rosti topped with layers of scrambled eggs, spinach and shaved truffles, this one is a pure delight.

You will also be not disappointed by the wide range of desserts that Indigo Deli has to offer. From great ice-cream flavors like Butter Pecan and Rum & Raisin, the in-house ice-cream is creamy and the best you can get in Pune. The Deli also offers cheesecakes and tarts, but the one dessert you should absolutely try is the Whiskey Pate that combines the whiskey flavors and effervescence with dark chocolate.

One of the best new additions on to the Pune Food scene, you must give Indigo Deli a visit to enjoy a filling lunch or dinner and explore the simple and fresh Diner style preparations that are so rare in Pune.
