In the last decade, two million Americans have moved away from civilization, but thousands will fail during their first winter, monsoon, or draught season. Enter the Raney family, whose mission is to aid floundering outdoorsmen and teach them the basics: growing food, finding water, creating sustainable shelter, and surviving the threat of predators.
Each week, the Raneys will consult with a different family of homesteading rookies to teach them how to survive and thrive the unexpected elements of the wild. Having lived without power, water, plumbing, and heat, the Raney family impart their wisdom and expertise on the newbies and have fun doing it.
In Homestead Rescue Season 3 Father Marty, daughter Misty, and son Matt will help struggling families learn new bush craft skills, protect their livestock, grow food, and face the most grueling challenges yet seen, leaving some with the stark decision to tough it out or pack it up and head back for civilization.
In the Season 3 premiere, the Raneys find a beekeeper with hives attracting bears and a homestead too unsanitary for a child to visit; and Marty builds a bathhouse and bush-engineers a windmill-water pump, but violent winds threaten to derail his mission to reunite a family.
