21 Thunder TV Show Plot
The series follows many different story lines and how they are entangled together. At the core of the story is the Thunder U21 soccer club and its players who are trying to make a future for themselves and win matches for the club.
We get to see reluctant coach Christy, an Olympic soccer hero who is forced on the team only because it looks good and is more of a PR stunt than a strategic choice. Joining him in helping the coach is Davey Gunn who is running from his past and looking for minimal media exposure.
The team is a mix of players from different ethnic and social backgrounds including a former gang-member, an academic prodigy and a brilliant new arrival. Together this diverse group must bond with each other under coach Rocas to win games for the club. But more than soccer, it is Nolan’s estranged and incarcerated father trying to make a connection with him that will bring devastating consequences to the team.

21 Thunder TV Show Reviews
The series has above average ratings on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes and the critics have dubbed it more as sports thriller than a series focused on soccer. Here’s what they had to say,
“It’s an excellent melodrama that reaches into the lavishly exotic and coarse world of club soccer and pulls out stories and characters that are believable and compelling.” ~ John Doyle, The Globe and Mail
“Soccer has everything a good drama needs (behind the scenes, if not always on the field). It’s a game of personalities. A clash of international cultures. ” ~ Johanna Schneller, The Star
