The CW network is set to welcome former stars Vanessa Morgan from “Riverdale” and Giacomo Gianniotti from “Reign” and “Grey’s Anatomy” back into the fold with their upcoming crime-solving procedural, “Wild Cards.”
Synopsis:
“Wild Cards” is a unique blend of crime-solving and comedy, bringing together an unlikely duo comprising a gruff and sardonic cop named Ellis, portrayed by Giacomo Gianniotti, and a spirited and clever con woman named Max, played by Vanessa Morgan. Ellis is a demoted detective who has spent the past year on the maritime unit, while Max has led a transient life, masterfully scamming anyone she encounters.
Their worlds collide when Max is arrested and unexpectedly ends up assisting Ellis in solving a local crime. To avoid imprisonment and regain their standing, the two are presented with an offer they can’t refuse: they must work together. Ellis gets reinstated as a detective, while Max must stay out of jail. However, there’s a catch – they have to collaborate, combining their unique skills to tackle various criminal cases.
For Ellis, it means applying hard-boiled, no-nonsense police work. Max, on the other hand, employs her knack for accents, schemes, and making friends with everyone she meets. This duo’s mismatched dynamic adds a layer of comedy to the procedural format, with Max’s unconventional methods driving Ellis to the brink.
As the two navigate their partnership, they discover the true meaning of trust, cooperation, and perhaps even friendship. “Wild Cards” is not just about solving crimes; it’s a character-driven exploration of two people from different worlds learning to work together.
