Internet has become the fastest way to attain celebrity status these days. And although it has opened up a lot of opportunities, putting your personal information online is equally dangerous. Web of Lies movie follows Whitney as she returns home after a long time. A social media influencer, Whitney is kind of an Internet celebrity and has her entire life posted online on various social networks. Celebrity means Whitney didn’t have a lot of time to spend with her parents and feels guilty for not being there for them.
Returning home, fame follows her back to her hometown as she continues to work as an influencer. Whitney connects with Mike, her next door neighbor, who also turns out to be someone who was with her in school. But he is not the only one who has been waiting for Whitney.
She soon begins to get weird messages on her social media profiles and is also confronted by a fan who looks like a stalker. Scared by his presence, she is glad that Mike intervenes and makes sure that she is safe. However, Whitney’s sister does not completely trust Mike and is suspicious of his erratic behavior.
As her online harassment continues and when her sister goes suddenly missing Whitney is sure that someone is trying to harm her. But with multiple stalkers it gets increasingly difficult for Whitney to figure out who is behind all this. Is Mike really behind all of this? or is there someone else hiding in the shadows who wants to harm Whitney.
