A soldier’s duty is to walk into the line of fire even when he does not believe it is the right thing to do. His only job is to follow the order he receives. War Machine movie starring Brad Pitt is a part satirical and part reality based take on a soldier’s life in war zone. The Netflix original is loosely based on the book The Operators: The Wild & Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan and therefore is set in Afghanistan.

War Machine Movie Plot
War Machine movie story revolves around General Glen McMahon as he is ordered to take charge of the Nato forces in Afghanistan. The Yale educated general is confident that after eight years of counterinsurgency operations, NATO is just short of complete victory. His answer to this long drawn war is another 40,000 troops, which have been denied.
On Afghan soil, the general and his lot decide to aim for Hemland province, Taliban’s stronghold in southern Afghanistan, which is also the province where there are no reports of fighters in the waiting. The movie then goes into the some political on-goings as the general tours Europe and meets with the leaders and holds a press conference where he is grilled by a reporter.
Back in Afghanistan for a push into the dangerous territory, the soldiers find empty, desolate towns with people living in poor condition who only want the forces to leave and go home.
