Kundalkar says he himself has experienced body shaming first hand, and wanted to make a statement with the movie. Although being overweight is the most common reason, body shaming is also regularly experienced by those who are not fair, are short, or even those who are too thin.

Vazandar Story

Pooja and Kaveri are two friends who love life and enjoy food. But they have been always singled out for their slightly plump body and ridiculed many a time. To escape this criticism and attacks, the two decide to lose weight.

Vazandar tells this story in a funny way. The discrimination is highlighted through various experiences not just ith friends and family, but by those in law enforcement.

Vazandar Review

The trailer can tell you enough about the technical quality as far as movie making is concerned. Like Rajwade and Sons, you will like the urban feel of the movie as well as the picturesque locations of Pachgani. But the question that keeps you nagging all through is are these actresses who appear tormented and harassed by the people really fat?

Kundalkar selects an important message, but dilutes the agony by casting actors that are not really fat. By labeling their physique as fat, I am sure the director is creating many more problems for people who are fat.

Performances by the leading actresses do not leave you much wanting. However, the pace of the movie and shallow story seem to be the pain points for the film. This week, if you have not seen Ventilator movie yet, we will definitely want you to go for that movie over Vazandar.
